Care Learning Centre often links up with other organisations to provide a better experience for our learners by sharing resources or providing additional courses. For example, our Train to Gain partnerships allow us to offer free training across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Centre of Vocational Excellence in Residential and Domiciliary Care Hampshire & The Isle of Wight

The Centre of Vocational Excellence in Residential & Domiciliary Care was established in 2004 as a partnership between The Isle of Wight College and the Care Learning Centre. The CoVE is designed to collaborate in partnership with learners and local employers in a bid to provide high quality training and vocational practice for the care sector.

Its Resource Centre provides the latest computing, practical and teaching facilities to learners and employers training the workforce of the future. “Through the Care CoVE, training provision will be more flexible and responsive and sharply focused in meeting the skills needs of care employers at local levels”.

Care CoVE Aims

  • To make training easily accessible to all those in the care industry
  • Promoting Care as a career through progression pathways from level 1 through levels 2 & 3 and progression onto HE/level 4/employment
  • Increasing progression into and out of level 3
  • To provide access to up-to-date training facilities and practical equipment at a centralised resource centre dedicated to the care sector
  • To deliver high quality training by working closely with employers and being responsive to customer demand
  • To encourage partnerships between training providers on the Isle of Wight and Hampshire
  • To develop new demand lead courses to meet the changing nature of the care workforce
  • Engaging employers to ensure the CoVE addresses local and regional skills needs
